WHAT IS A NEUROAFFIRMING ASSESSMENT

An assessment is about understanding, not changing, your child

Families seek an assessment to better understand their child, explain differences to others, or access the right support at school. Our approach is gentle, strengths-based and focused on understanding each child’s unique profile — not fitting them into a diagnostic checklist.

We use gold-standard tools including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, delivered by a multidisciplinary team including a Highly Specialist SLT and Specialist Autism Nurse.

Who can be assessed?

We assess children aged 5 and above. If your child is younger or you’re unsure whether assessment is appropriate, contact us for a free chat — we’ll be honest about whether now is the right time.

Why choose a private assessment?

NHS autism assessment waiting lists in Northumberland regularly run to 18–24 months. A private assessment means your child gets the support they need now — and our reports are fully accepted for EHCP applications and school SEND support.

Will the report be accepted by school and the NHS?

Yes. Our reports follow NICE guidance and are written to the standard required for EHCP applications, Annual Reviews and NHS shared care.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Things parents often ask us

Can I use a private assessment for an EHCP?

Yes. Our reports meet the standards required for EHCP applications and school SEND support. We write them to be practically useful, not just diagnostic.

How long does the assessment take?

The process typically spans 4–8 weeks from screening to report, depending on school availability and scheduling.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes — we can discuss installment options. Just ask when you book your free screening call and we’ll find something that works.

What age do you assess?

We currently offer autism assessments for children aged 5 and above. Contact us if you’re unsure whether your child meets the criteria.

What tools do you use?

We use gold-standard tools including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, in line with NICE guidance for autism assessment.

What happens after the assessment?

You receive a detailed written report and a feedback session. Therapy can begin immediately if needed — no re-referral required.
